National Awards

The ABW National Awards recognises excellence in schools participating in ABW programs. These annual awards offer prizes in numerous categories including trophies, travel and cash. Categories are as follows:

Best Video Commercial

Students produce a 30 second video commercial featuring their new product or promoting their new hotel theme. A good video commercial would effectively communicate the message about the product, what it is and why people should buy it.

Best Trade Display

Students are asked to make a mock-up of their new product or create a new hotel theme and mount a trade display complete with promotional material and business cards. Schools can send in a video/DVD of their trade display so judges can get the full idea of their trade display and product.

Best Written Report

Students are asked to prepare a written company report explaining their decisions made, the outcomes and the impact on their companies’ performance. The winning 3 reports will be asked to record a 3 minute oral presentation which will be played at the National Awards presentation.

Best PowerPoint and/or Website

Many ABW programs include a marketing presentation on PowerPoint to support the oral presentation and some develop a website as part of the challenge. Depending on the number and quality of the entries in this category, the judges may at their discretion make separate awards or only one.

Best School Program

Otherwise summed up as the story of ABW at your school. Many schools are capturing the excitement of their ABW program on video. The video must be created by students and/or teachers, not a commercial organisation. You can be as creative as your multi media skills allow. You could use a simple shoot and pause technique or you may have access to a full edit suite. The judges are looking for material that tells the story of your program and ABW. You need to cover your program highlights in no more than 6 minutes.
